Police dogs could start searching for drugs in Appleton middle schools next school year. Ben Vogel is the district’s assistant superintendent of student services. He says the dogs already perform random checks in the high schools. He says they know that there are students in the middle schools with drug problems.

Vogel says the schools will also hold informational meetings for parents, to update them on drug trends among children in the Fox Cities. A school board committee talked about expanding the use of the drug dogs this week.
