It’s another day of arctic cold for Wisconsin, with temperatures projected to drop throughout the day in locations across the state. At 6:00 it was -2 in Madison, La Crosse and Green Bay, -9 in Superior and -13 in Hayward. By Wednesday night, temperatures are expected to be in the -20 degree range in northwestern Wisconsin.
Geoff Grochocinski is a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Duluth. “Thankfully, it looks like as we go through the weekend, and especially early next week, we’ll see some moderating temperatures,” he said. “We’re forecasting high temperatures by Monday to return to above ten degrees.”
Wind chills are dangerous this morning, with winds out of the north up to 15 miles an hour. “You can see frost bite in five to ten minutes, if you’re unprotected, in those kinds of conditions,” Grochocinski cautioned.
