A 23 year-old man described as a transient is in custody in connection with the murder this week of a 56 year-old man in Jackson County. Jackson County Sheriff Duane Waldera says Aaron Powers is a person of interest in the death of Terrence Stone. Stone’s slaying is believed to have happened sometime Sunday night but was not discovered until Wednesday by a neighbor of Stone’s in the Town of North Bend. Waldera believes the murder is part of a string of crimes in the area, including two burglaries.
According to the sheriff’s department, Stone was killed with a gun shot wound to the head and his vehicle was stolen. The vehicle was recovered at a Juneau County park near New Lisbon on Thursday. Three people were arrested there but are not believed to be suspects. Jackson County District Attorney Gerald Fox says Powers can expect to be charged with First Degree Intentional Homicide and other charges.
