Prosecutors in Milwaukee say three people have been arrested in connection with the theft of a 300-year-old Stradivarius violin.

According to police records, the three were taken into custody on Monday. The District Attorney’s office on Wednesday confirmed the arrests, but would not say what the individuals could be charged with or if the violin has actually been recovered.

Milwaukee Symphony concert-master Frank Almond performed with the rare Stradivarius at Wisconsin Lutheran College the night of January 27th. On the way to his car, Almond was attacked by a man with a stun gun, who stole the instrument and escaped in a waiting car.

A $100,000 reward was offered for the safe return of the violin, which has an appraised value of $5 million.
