Three people are facing charges following a drug investigation at the Tomah VA Medical Center, including an employee of the facility.
Arrested were 60-year-old Bernard Jackson of Tomah, a VA employee, 40-year-old Alisa Hamley of Sparta, and 61-year-old Elijah Pates of Tomah. Jackson was arrested Monday for selling illegal narcotics, which police say he obtained from Alisa Hamley. Pates was arrested Tuesday, after allegedly trying to sell medications to a veteran at the hospital.
All three now face drug-related charges in Monroe County.
The Tomah VA has been under intense scrutiny this year, following reports that opiate painkillers were routinely overprescribed to patients.
