The state Assembly has approved a bill that requires children riding in cars to be kept in a rear-facing car seat until they are at least two-years-old.
State Representative Amy Loudenbeck (R-Clinton) says it brings Wisconsin in line with national recommendations, which are the result of research showing being rear-facing is five-times safer for infants when they are involved in a crash. “It’s already a mandate that child safety seats are required in Wisconsin…what this is doing is aligning our law with evidence-based practices,” she said.
The bill passed on a voice vote and now heads to the Senate.
