A baby girl came a little earlier than expected this morning in Madison.
A couple was trying to get to the hospital, but didn't make it. Instead, the baby was born in their vehicle on a major Madison street. The father did the delivery and even tried to use a crucifix to cut the umbilical cord.
Javier Font, a Madison firefighter-paramedic, says the mother gave birth in the front seat of an SUV. Font says they arrived on the scene to find the baby already born.
The mother wasn't expected to give birth until Friday, although officials say she was doing fine. There was no word on what they named the baby girl.
