The Wisconsin football program has made a habit of putting up walls around Wisconsin and keeping most of their division 1 athletes at home, especially when it comes to offensive lineman.
With only a couple of letters of intent still with-standing, the Badgers have a group of seven offensive lineman in the fold. Five of those seven are from Wisconsin.
Of that group, two of the players are sons of former Badger football offensive line standings.
George Panos (Hartland, Wis. Arrowhead HS) was a four-year starter on offensive line at Arrowhead High School. Panos was named first-team all-state in both his Junior and Senior seasons. He also helped guide Arrowhead to back-to-back Division 1 state championships in 2012 and 2013.
George Panos’ father (Joe) played on the Wisconsin offensive line from 1990-93, serving as captain of the 1993 Big Ten Championship team. Joe Panos was selected in the third-round of the 1994 NFL Draft by the Philadelphia Eagles.
The other player that has family ties to the program is Beau Benzschawel from Grafton, Wisconsin. Benzschawel is a first-team all-state pick by the Associated Press and Wisconsin Football Coaches Association as a senior.
Benzschawel originally committed to play at Syracuse, but changed to Wisconsin when they offered. His father (Scott) played football at Wisconsin from 1983 to 1987.
