The Wisconsin Badger basketball team took down 12th ranked Illinois with a dominating 74-51 at the Kohl Center on Saturday afternoon. The
Badgers (12-4, 3-0) captured their 3rd straight to start Big Ten Conference play.
Wisconsin started fast and furious, jumping out to a 14-0 lead, just seven minutes into the contest. The Badgers didn’t let up either, leading 39-19 at halftime.
The Badgers hit 49% from three-point distance, while the Illini shot 35%. But the real advantage was on the boards. The Badgers out-rebounded Illinois 43-24 for the game.
Jared Berggren poured in 15 points and pulled down a season-high 12 rebounds. Traevon Jackson added a career-best 14 points to lead the Badgers. Freshman Sam Dekker added 13 points.
Illinois (14-4, 1-3 Big Ten), after winning its first 12 games, has now dropped 4 of the last 6.
The Badgers next face the Indiana Hoosiers in Bloomington on Tuesday night.
