Could the U.S. and Wisconsin learn an energy lesson from South America? Environmental consultant Brett Hulsey of Madison says Brazil has said bye-bye to oil imports, thanks in large part to its ethanol industry.

President Bush will be in Brazil this week to discuss ethanol, and Hulsey says Washington is interested in whatever ethanol Wisconsin can produce. Hulsey says Governor Doyle's goal, of twenty five percent bio-fuel by 2025 could help spur investment here. Wisconsin currently produces about 250 million gallons of ethanol from corn, and Hulsey notes wood waste and switchgrass are other potential fuel sources.
