At the Big Ten Basketball Media Day today in Chicago, the Wisconsin men’s and women’s basketball teams were both picked to finish lower than 3rd. Only the top three vote getters are released.
On the men’s side, Michigan State is picked to win the Big Ten, followed by Ohio State and Purdue.
Badger senior forward Jon Leuer was named to the Big Ten’s preseason all-conference team. Leuer averaged 15.4 points a game last season, despite missing about half of the Big Ten season.
On the women’s side, the Badger women, after finishing tied for 3rd last season, were picked to finish below that mark this year. Ohio State, Iowa and Michigan State are the top three vote getters.
Wisconsin guard Alyssa Karel (14.3 ppg) was named preseason All-Big Ten by the league’s media.
