The 4th ranked Wisconsin Badger women’s hockey team fell to top ranked Minnesota 2-0 on Saturday afternoon at Ridder Arena as the Gophers pulled off a 2-game sweep in the series.

The Badgers (2-2-0, 2-2-0 WCHA) held the Golden Gophers (4-0-0, 2-0-0 WCHA) scoreless for the first two periods.  Wisconsin senior captain and goaltender Alex Rigsby made 19 of her 31 saves in the first two periods.

The Gophers scored the games first goal 5+ minutes into the 3rd period, then added a second goal with seven minutes left to play.

The Badgers were outshot by the Gophers 33-27, but killed all four Minnesota power play chances.

Wisconsin returns home for the start of a six-game homestand on Friday, Oct. 18 against Saint Cloud State.  Faceoff is set for 7pm at LaBahn Arena.  After hosing the Huskies, Wisconsin will welcome non-conference foe Lindenwood and WCHA rival Ohio State to Madison on consecutive weekends.
