The University of Wisconsin ranks 9th in the final winter Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup standings. The Badgers climbed 12 places after ranking 21st following the fall season.
UW currently has 607.5 total points, while top-ranked Stanford has earned 962. Ohio State, Penn State, Florida and Minnesota round out the top five.
A total of eight teams earned points for Wisconsin in the winter season, led by the men’s hockey team’s national runner-up finish and wrestling’s fourth-place national finish.
The Big Ten Conference is the only conference with four teams ranked in the top nine.
The Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institutions finish in up to 20 sports – 10 women’s and 10 men’s.
