The 9th ranked Wisconsin Badgers dropped their Big Ten season finale at Nebraska, falling 77-68 to the Cornhuskers at Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln on Sunday night.
Frank Kaminsky scored 14 points to lead four Wisconsin players in double figures, but the Badgers didn’t shoot well. They hit just 34% from the field in the second half, coughing up a 7-point lead.
The Badgers didn’t help themselves at the free throw line, hitting just 11 of 21 as a team. They also turned the ball over 11 times and couldn’t stop Nebraska’s ball penetration.
It all ended up in the Badgers seeing their 8-game win streak come to an end.
The Badgers had already secured the second seed in the Big Ten Conference earlier in the day when Michigan State lost to Ohio State in Columbus.
That, coupled with the fact that it was Senior Day for Nebraska, and the Huskers are till trying to cement a spot in the NCAA Field, meant they were ready to take it to the Badgers.
Nebraska improved to 15-1 at home with the win. They earned the 4th seed in the Big Ten, which means they get a bye in the first round and don’t play until Friday against the winner of Ohio State and Purdue.
The Badgers also open Big Ten Tournament play on Friday at 5:30pm CT against the winner of Thursday’s first round game between Minnesota and Penn State.
After the game, Nebraska Fans stormed the court to share in the celebration.
