Mark Johnson Wisconsin Badger head coach Mark Johnson has been named the AHCA Women's Division I Coach of the Year for the 2008-09 season.  This is Johnson's third Coach of the Year Award in four years, the most of any Division I coach in the 12 year history of the award.

The Badgers won the Women's Frozen Four Championship for the 3rd time in the last four years and compiled a 34-2-5 recird this season.  Johnson, who received the honor in 2006 and 2007, was also named the WCHA Co-Coach of the Year earlier this season.

The Badgers started the season 18-0-2 and finished the season on a 12-game winning streak.  In the NCAA Tournament, the Badgers were dominant, sweeping Dartmouth, Minnesota-Duluth and Mercyhurst by a combined score of 17-1.  Included in that trio of games was a 5-0 shutout of Mercyhurst in the title game in Boston.

Johnson's career record in Madison is 210-39-22 (.815) in seven seasons as head coach of the Badgers.  His winning percentage ranks him first among active NCAA Division I women's head coaches.  His success has earned him the coveted post of U.S. Olympic Team Head Coach for the 2010 Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver.
