After leading the Wisconsin Badger women's hockey team to a second straight NCAA Division 1 championship, coach Mark Johnson has been named by his peers as the American Hockey Coaches Association (ACHA) Coach of the Year for 2006-07.
The Badgers compiled a record of 36-4-1 this year, winning both the WCHA regular season and tournament titles before capturing the NCAA Championship in Lake Placid, NY. Johnson is currently in Winnipeg, coaching team USA in the upcoming World Championships. It's his second straight coach of the year honor.
Johnson has a career record of 147-28-14 (.815) in five seasons as head coach of the Badgers. His winning percentage ranks him first among active NCAA Division I women's head coaches.
