Wisconsin football sophomore Matt Shaughnessy, has been named to the preseason watch list for the 2006 Ted Hendricks Award, which goes to the nation's top defensive end. Shaughnessy is ranked as the No. 17 defensive end in the nation according to the Sporting News heading into the 2006 season. He was a first-team Freshman All-American in 2005 according to The Sporting News and ESPN.com and a second-team freshman All-American by collegefootballnews.com. He played in 11 games in 2005, including seven starts. He was an honorable mention All-Big Ten pick according to media and was selected UW's Rookie of the Year. Former Badger Erasmus James was a Ted Hendricks Award finalist in 2004.
