Wisconsin left tackle Joe Thomas was drafted with the 3rd overall pick in the NFL Draft by the Cleveland Browns. Some mock drafts had Thomas going #2 to Detroit, but they took Georgia Tech receiver Calvin Johnson. The 6'6, 315 pound left tackle won the 2006 Outland Trophy protecting quarterback John Stocco. Thomas is not in New York for the draft, instead he went fishing on Lake Michigan with his father.
A few other Badgers hope to get drafted this weekend, but most likely won't hear their names until Sunday. Quarterback John Stocco is expected to be a 6th or 7th round pick. Linebacker Mark Zalewski and defensive back Rod Rogers could also be late round picks.
