Wisconsin captured the 2014 Big Ten women’s soccer tournament after beating Iowa 1-0 in the Big Ten championship game on Sunday. Kinley McNicoll scored a goal in double overtime that gave the Badgers the 1-0 win in West Lafayette, Ind.
The 11th ranked Badgers (18-2-2) and Hawkeyes played more than 100 minutes of physical, competitive and scoreless soccer before McNicoll scored on a corner kick that helped UW claim the program’s third Big Ten tournament title and first since 2005.
Wisconsin won its 18th game of the season, the most in program history. With the Big Ten’s automatic bid now in hand, UW waits to fund out where it will be seeded in the upcoming NCAA tournament. The NCAA Selection is today at 3:30pm (CT).
