Congresswoman Tammy Baldwin says lawmakers need to act on federal labor law reforms. The US House is expected to vote next month on the Employee Free Choice Act, which would provide new protections for workers who are trying to unionize and penalties for employers who try to stop them. Congresswoman Tammy Baldwin (D-WI) says the legislation is about protecting the rights of workers to unionize and preventing employers from intimidating them.

Baldwin met with labor leaders in Madison on Thursday. She says the bill would give workers a collective voice to achieve real change in workplace safety, pay increases, and more. The legislation also allows unions to organize through majority sign-up, something Baldwin says many employers can currently choose to ignore.

The bill is expected pass in the House, but could be blocked in the US Senate.
