The main Democrat in the race for governor says he has a plan to drive more tourists to the Badger State.  Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett wants to waive hunting, fishing, and state park entrance fees for two weekends a year.

Barrett announced the plan Monday in Green Bay.

He feels the state would make money on the promotion because more tourists would mean more money for the state from hotel and other taxes.  He says the state would come out ahead even if the free weekend fell on the opening or closing weekend of the gun deer hunting season.

Barrett says money raised by the fee-free weekends would be put into the tourism department budget.
