Yuniesky Betancourt is back with the Milwaukee Brewers.
Betancourt originally came to Milwaukee in the Zach Greinke deal. He hit .252 with 13 HR’s and 68 RBI’s in 152 games in 2010. Defensively, he had 21 errors and drove Brewers fans crazy.
Betancourt returned to the Royals as a backup infielder last year, playing in only 57 games. He hit .228 with 7 home runs and 46 RBI’s.
Betancourt was in the Phillies’ camp this spring but asked for his release a few days ago. He left hitting .447 in 18 spring games.
He comes to the Brewers because they need some utility infield help. Jeff Bianchi has been sidelined with a hip injury and the Brewers aren’t satisfied with their depth there.
