The Badgers may be Rose Bowl bound for the first time in ten years, and that means ‘buyer beware’ when buying ticket packages, especially on-line. That from Randall Hoth, president-CEO of the Wisconsin Better Business Bureau. “If you are buying tickets on-line, you’ve got to make certain that you do some independent research on that ticket broker,” says Hoth, who suggests checking out the BBB website.

There’s some history here: back in 1994, nearly 10,000 Badger fans made the long journey to Pasadena after purchasing a ticket package, only to discover that they had been scammed and did not have legitimate tickets to the game. “Use your credit card, which gives you some ability to dispute an issue if the tickets aren’t as advertised,” Hoth advises. “Be aware, you don’t own that ticket, even though you may make an on-line purchase, until you see that confirmation and see a copy of the ticket.

Hoth says it’s unfortunate that sporting events like the Rose Bowl always present opportunities for ticket scams, hence the importance of doing business with someone you can trust.
