Vice-President Joe Biden is in Wisconsin this morning. Biden is at Madison’s Monona Terrace, headlining a fundraiser for Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett, the Democratic candidate for governor who according to most polls is trailing the Republican in the race, Milwaukee County Exec Scott Walker. The local media is excluded from covering the breakfast event, which carries a $250 a head price tag, although individuals can spend up to $1000 for preferred seating or up to $2400 for a table.
Republican Party of Wisconsin executive director Mark Jefferson says it’s bizarre that Barrett is going out of his way to stand with the status quo DC establishment. And Jefferson notes that the last time Biden was in Wisconsin, back in June, he was caught on camera calling the manager of a custard stand near Milwaukee “a smart ass” for requesting lower taxes in exchange for Biden’s order.
