Picture a bratwurst about the length of the distance between the pitcher's mound and home plate at a baseball diamond. Jerry Stoddard of Stoddard's Meat Market put together a brat that was 68 feet long. His crew unveiled the massive sausage at the Northwoods League All-Star Game Fan Fest in Madison Sunday.

"We went the traditional diameter of a brat and stretched it out really, really long," says Stoddard.

The Cottage Grove butcher wound up the brat into a tub for transport to Duck Pond. He says the biggest challenge was cooking the brat. But he's not done with the record books.

"We've already talked about going 90 feet, going to first base or if we could go home plate to second base."

The brat shatters the world record by 20 feet. It was set four years ago by a meat maker in Campbellsport.  Stoddard says it'd been fun to "get a rivalry going."
