A Republican lawmaker is mad that a primary enforcement for seat belt violations will likely remain in the state budget.

The Legislature's Finance Committee approved primary enforcement, meaning cops can pull you over for just for not being buckled up. State Representative Steve Nass (R-Whitewater) says the measure is an intrusion into the lives of Wisconsin citizens. Nass says the public doesn't want police to be able to pull them over for simply not wearing a seatbelt.

Lawmakers on the Budget Committee, including Republicans, voted in favor of the measure because it will allow the state to receive additional federal transportation funding.
