Proposed legislation could make organ donations easier. Every year, thousands of people die on organ transplant waiting lists, and it doesn't have to happen. Representative Steve Wieckert's bill incorporates changes to the federal Uniform Anatomical Gift Act of 1987. Companion legislation has been introduced in the state Senate, by Madison Democrat Fred Risser. Wieckert says the bill is the product of months of work by interested parties.
