Summer break for school kids in Wisconsin could end earlier. State Rep. Jim Ott says a law barring schools from opening before September First doesn't make sense. The tourism industry is fighting Ott's push to repeal the law. Chet Gerlach is president of the Wisconsin Tourism Federation . He says the later start has given families more time to vacation and spend money, which benefits the entire state. Ott says some school superintendents have said they want more time in the fall to prepare students for state-mandated tests. Gerlach says it's better for students to be in class later in June when it's not as hot as late August.
