Representative Spencer Black is proposing legislation similar to a new greenhouse gas reduction law in California.
The Madison Democrat says global warming threatens to cause unprecedented and massive environmental damage and disruption, according to the National Academy of Science. Black says the new California law, the ?Global Warming Solutions Act? — is the first ever comprehensive greenhouse gas reduction program in the United States, and passage of similar legislation here and in other states would make up for the Bush administration's failure to act.
Black says he'll introduce his measure as soon as the Legislature convenes in January.
