The Wisconsin State Patrol says crews responding to the scene of a crash along Interstate 94 have recovered a body. It’s believed to be the driver of the semi, which was pulled out of the Red Cedar River near Menomonie after crashing into the water at about 4 a.m. this morning.

The State Patrol says the search continues for a second body, who they believed was a passenger in the semi at the time of the crash.

The semi based out of Lansing, Michigan was traveling west on a snow-covered I-94 at the time of the crash. The State Patrol says initial indications are that the semi entered the median and then went down an embankment into the river.

State Patrol is not yet releasing the names of those traveling in the vehicle or the company they were driving for.

The crash prompted eastbound I-94 to be closed for much of the morning, with motorists redirected through Menomonie. Officials say they expect the interstate to reopen in both directions soon.
