Green Bay Phoenix women’s basketball coach Matt Bollant has been named the Kay Yow Coach of the Year and the WBCA Division I Coach of the Year.

The Kay Yow Award was established last year to honor the Division I women’s head coach who embodies not only a winning spirit but who also displays great character both on and off the court.  Bollant was selected from a nationwide list of 10 coaches.

This season Bollant led the Green Bay women’s basketball team to a program-best 34 wins and its first NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 appearance.  For the second time under four-year head coach Matt Bollant, the Phoenix went 18-0 in Horizon League play, winnings its 13th consecutive regular season title.  In addition, for the third time during his tenure at Green Bay, Bollant was named the Horizon League Coach of the Year.

Yow was a coaching legend who led NC State to 737 wins during her 34 seasons.
