Green Bay women’s basketball coach Matt Bollant has been named the
Russell Athletic/WBCA Coach of the Year for Region 6.
Bollant just completed his fourth season with the Phoenix, guiding it to the 38-year program’s first Sweet 16 appearance in this year’s NCAA Tournament. Green Bay’s 34 wins is the most in program history. The records dont’ stop there either. The Phoenix achieved the highest winning percentage (.944), most points scored (2,666), most free throws made (539), assists (721), steals (442), turnover margin (+8) and scoring margin (+20.9).
Bollant is in some pretty good company with the Region 6 award. Other Region winners include Connecticut’s Geno Auriemma and Tennessee’s Pat Summitt.
