The Wisconsin Supreme Court is officially back up to seven members. Justice Rebecca Bradley was sworn in at about 8:45 Monday morning to serve out the remainder of Justice N. Patrick Crooks‘ term.

Crooks passed away suddenly last month, just weeks after announcing he planned to retire at the end of his current 10-year term in July of next year. Bradley was appointed by Governor Scott Walker on Friday to serve out the remaining nine months of his term.

Bradley is one of three announced candidates running for the seat in the spring elections. She will face Appeals Court Judge JoAnne Kloppenburg and Milwaukee Circuit Judge Joe Donald in a February primary, with the top two in that race moving on to an April 5 general election.

Bradley has most recently served as an appellate court judge – a position she was appointed to by the governor earlier this year. Prior to that, she was a Milwaukee County Circuit Judge and an attorney in private practice.
