today (Saturday).

To make room on the roster for Schafer, the Brewers are expected to put Ryan Braun (oblique) on the 15-day disabled list with the move to be back-dated.

Caleb Gindl

The Brewers also recalled outfielder Caleb Gindl from Triple “A” Nashville on Friday, putting relief pitcher Jim Henderson on the 15-day disabled list with right shoulder inflammation.  Gindl started Friday’s game in Cincinnati and went 1 for 3 with a walk.

Gindl was hitting .284 in Nashville and had three different stints with the Brewers last season.

Carlos Gomez

Brewers centerfielder Carlos Gomez’s appeal of his three-game suspension for his involvement in the April 20 melee in Pittsburgh will be heard by Major League Baseball on May 9th.

The Brewers on that day, open a series against the New York Yankees at Miller Park.  The Brewers are hopeful Gomez will get his suspension reduced by at least 1-game.
