Ryan Braun clubbed two home runs and made a diving catch in right field to help Kyle Lohse and the Milwaukee Brewers beat the New York Mets 7-0 at Citi Field in their series opener on Friday night.
The home runs for Braun are numbers 7 and 8 on the season. Gerardo Parra also homered and clubbed an rbi double for the Brewers, who got to Mets starter Bartolo Colon (6-2) to win on the road for the first time under new manager Craig Counsell.
Lohse allowed just two hits in eight innings of work, after entering the game with a 7.03 ERA. Lohse improved to 3-4 with the victory. Michael Blazek completed the three-hitter by pitching the 9th inning for the Brewers.
The Brewers have now won 13 of their last 16 games at Citi Field to improve to 14-6 overall, good for the best winning percentage (.700) of any National League team.
