Former University of Wisconsin athletics administrator Otto Breitenbach died this week at the age of 82.
Breitenbach suffered a heart attack on Monday while watching the Wisconsin football team played Arkansas in the Capitol One Bowl. He died Tuesday at a Madison hospital.
Breitenbach joined the athletic department in 1973, serving as right hand man to Elroy Hirsch. Breitenbach oversaw football and men's basketball and helped turn the men's hockey program into a national power.
Breitenbach also served as the Western Collegiate Hockey Association commissioner from 1983 to 1994.
