A long time state senator representing northern Wisconsin will leave to become the state’s next commissioner of railroads. The governor’s office has announced 12th district Democrat Roger Breske has been appointed to the post beginning June Fourth. Breske said he appreciates the governor’s faith in him. “Until this opportunity came up, I had every intention to seek reelection to my sixth term,” said Breske. Breske said it was a very tough decision, but says the position as commissioner of railroads is a natural fit for him. Breske says he has worked with all levels of local government, and has a good working relationship with the department of transportation. He currently serves as chair of the senate committee on transportation and tourism.
