remains the top center fielder, but they still went out and acquired some backup help.
The Brewers sent minor league infielder Cutter Dykstra and cash to the Washington Nationals for outfielder Nyjer Morgan. Morgan had worn out his welcome in Washington and Melvin said their interest in completing a deal changed when the National’s asking price went down.

The Brewers on Friday traded backup center fielder Chris Dickerson to the New York Yankees for reliever Sergio Mitre. Melvin also told backup Brandon Boggs that he wouldn’t make the club. Boggs will have to clear waivers before he could report to Class AAA Nashville.
The Brewers had already placed pitcher Zach Greinke on the 15-day disabled list. Doug Melvin said the bottom line is they need to get healthy.

Morgan hit .253 with 24 RBI and 34 stolen bases in 136 games last season with Washington.
The 21-year-old Cutter Dykstra was a second round draft pick in 2008 but struggled in 2009 by hitting .212 that year. He rebounded in 2010, hitting .312 in 100 games with 5 home runs and 39 RBI’s.
