The Milwaukee Brewers have made some nice improvements and the ownership has increased its payroll, spending money on some good talent.

The youth is a year older which is a good thing.  But I'm not as convinced as the many Brewers fans about the teams outlook this season.

I think the Brewers are still a year away.  That's not to say they won't be better then last year and if all goes well, they could be knocking on the wildcard playoff door.  But this team needs to find more power at third base where the team is currently platooning a pair of utility players, Tony Graffanino and Craig Counsell .  The answer is Ryan Braun , down at Triple A, but Braun has to figure out his defense before he can help the Brewers in Milwaukee.

They'll need to find another starting pitcher.  I've seen enough of Dave Bush in the Brewers starting rotation and Rickie Weeks either needs to figure out the leadoff spot or the Brewers have to find somebody else.

There's a lot of young talent on this roster and a little more seasoning along with another talented player or two could push this club over the top.  But for now, I think this 2007 Brewers team is one that will fall short.
