I know the odds appear slim, but don't be surprised if the Brewers make a run at the Chicago Cubs in this final week of the regular baseball season for the Central Division title.

More likely would be the Brewers finding a way to get into a one game playoff at the end of the season if they can find a way to tie the Cubs.

That will still take a small miracle, but the Brewers remaining schedule does consist of two struggling baseball teams.  The Cardinals have been out of contention for some time now and have been getting battered around.

And the Padres, losers of four in a row and now without their best hitter, Milton Bradley, may not be up for the task either.  San Diego will likely have plenty to play for when they come to Milwaukee this weekend, but the Padres are ripe for the picking.

Certainly the Brewers will probably have to win at least 5 of their 6 remaining games, but the Cubs go on the road to Florida and Cincinnati and I can see them giving up a couple of games.

The Cubs have been hot of late, but I can't imagine that continuing on the road and based on the way this race has taken shape the last month and a half, it wouldn't surprise me a bit if the Brewers don't at least have a chance by the time the weekend draws to a close.
