The Milwaukee Brewers had dropped two straight series, losing 5 of 6 during the stretch. But everything is all good again after the Brewers pulled off a 3-game sweep of the Cincinnati Reds with a 5-2 win on Sunday at Miller Park.
Mike Cameron clubbed a 2-run homer, going 2 for 4 with 3 rbi's. Rookie Mat Gamel also had a pair of hits, including an rbi single. But after the Brewers put their 5-runs on the board, Reds pitchers settled down, retiring 17 of the final 18 batters.
Yovani Gallardo didn't have his best stuff, but he battled in and out of trouble, pitching out of a bases loaded jam in the second. He allowed two runs and struck out 9 in 5 1/3 innings. Brandon Phillips hit a solo homer for the Reds on defeat.
Following Gallardo was another solid bullpen performance. Mitch Stetter, Mark DiFelice and closer Trevor Hoffman pitched the final 3 2/3 innings without allowing a hit and striking out 5 Reds batters.
The Brewers now hit the road for the next six games, starting in Miami against the Florida Marlins tonight.
