The Atlanta Braves did the St. Louis Cardinals a big favor by beating Houston on Sunday. As it turned out, the Cardinals needed the help after falling to the Milwaukee Brewers 5-3 in St. Louis on Sunday. Brewers' rookie starter Carlos Villanueva entered the 9th inning with a three-hit shutout but needed relief help from Francisco Cordero after Chris Duncan and Albert Pujols crushed long home runs. The effort by Villanueva likely put him into the club's picture for 2007. In September, Villanueva had a 1-1 record with a 2.73 ERA in three starts and one long relief outing. Prince Fielder clubbed his 28th home run and Geoff Jenkins, who went 3 for 3, knocked his 17th of the season. Jenkins hit .409 over the last month of the season with 7 homers and 12 rbi's, but his future with the club is uncertain for next year. Jenkins has one year left on his current contract that is set to pay him $7-million.
