The Milwaukee Brewers sent right-handed pitcher Marco Estrada to the Toronto Blue Jays in exchange for first baseman Adam Lind.
The Brewers are hoping they’ve found an everyday first baseman and a left-handed bat in the middle of their lineup.
Lind hit .321 with six home runs and 40 RBI in over 96 games this past season for the Blue Jays. Toronto exercised a club option on Lind for $7.5-million for 2015 last week.
Lind’s best season came in 2009 when he hit .305 with 35 homers and 114 RBI as Toronto’s designated hitter.
Lind is a career .293 hitter against right-handed pitching, but just .212 against left handers.
Estrada started last season in the Brewers rotation but rookie Jimmy Nelson eventually took over just before the all-star break. Estrada finished the season 7-6 with a 4.36 ERA in 39 appearances (18 starts). He went 23-25 with a 4.11 ERA in five seasons with the Brewers.
