Oliver Perez threw 1-hit baseball for 8 1/3 innings before allowing Bill Hall's 9th inning home run.  Perez settled for a 9-1 win over the Milwaukee Brewers at Shea Stadium on Sunday and the Mets captured 2 of 3 games in the series.

The series loss ended a string of 7 consecutive series won by the Brewers.  Chris Capuano took the loss (5-1), his first in 8 starts for the Brewers.

Damien Easley had a big day offensively for New York.  He had 3 hits and 4 rbi's, including a 2-run homer.  Carlos Beltran also added a 2-run homer in the Mets five-run 8th inning.

The Brewers fell a half-game behind Boston for the best record in baseball, but they remain tied with Cincinnati for the Major League home run lead with 48.  The Brewers open a 4-game series against the Phillies in Philadelphia tonight.  Dave Bush pitches for Milwaukee.
