The Milwaukee Brewers jumped out to a 3-0 lead on the Pittsburgh Pirates when Ryan Braun clubbed a three-run first inning homer, but that's all they'd get off of Pirates starter Ian Snell, falling 5-3.

It's the 2nd straight loss and the 4th in the last six games for the Brewers, who maintain their 5 1/2 game lead on the Cubs in the Central after Chicago lost to Washington earlier.

Braun's home run in the first was his 8th of the season, coming in his first 36 games.

Claudio Vargas took the loss.  He was victim to the long ball.  Ryan Doumit and Adam LaRoche both clubbed long home runs to help bring the Pirates from behind.

Corey Hart did deliver a first inning single to extend his hitting streak to 20-straight games.

Ben Sheets pitches for the Brewers today as they try to end a 2-game slide against the Pirates in the series finale.
