Brewers 2016 alternate capThe Brewers and Braves put in some extra time in their series opener at Miller Park on Monday night.

The Braves scored the game winner in the 12th inning as they held off the Brewers 4-3.

Atlanta loaded the bases in the 12th with nobody out and managed to score just one run.  But that is all they would need to pull out the victory.

Carlos Torres, who pitched two innings of scoreless relief, couldn’t get anybody out in the 12th.  With the bases loaded, Gordon Beckham sent a deep fly ball to center field, which was dropped by Keon Broxton for an error.  Beckham was still credited with a sacrifice fly.

The Brewers went to Blaine Boyer who induced a 3-2-3 double play ground ball and got out of the inning without any further damage.

Zach Davies allowed three runs in seven innings, turning in another quality start.  Davies allowed a pair of home runs, to Nick Markakis in the second and A.J. Pierzynski in the fifth.

Wily Peralta pitches game two of the series for the Brewers tonight.  He was recalled from Triple (A) Colorado Springs after Junior Guerra was placed on the disabled list with right elbow soreness.
