Pinch-hitter Russell Martin singled home the winning run in the 14th inning and the Pittsburgh Pirates earned their ninth straight victory, knocking off the Milwaukee Brewers 2-1.
The Pirates reached the halfway mark of the season with a Major League best 51-30 record and their longest winning streak since 2004.
Brewers catcher Martin Maldonado went 3 for 5, but the rest of the Brewers lineup went 1 for 41. In 14-innings, not a single Brewers hitter could coax a base on balls from the Pirates pitching staff.

After a 2-hour, 20-minute rain delay in the second inning, the Brewers elected not to come back with starter Kyle Lohse. Instead, Tyler Thornburg came out of the bullpen to work 5-scoreless innings.
The Pirates scored the tying run in the 8th inning when Andrew McCutchen singled home Starling Marte.
Lohse isn’t expected to have to wait until his next turn. He could go on Wednesday night against the Washington Nationals.
The Brewers open a 4-game set against the Nationals in Washington D.C. tonight.
