The Milwaukee Brewers scored 5-runs in the 5th inning last night and went on to beat the St. Louis Cardinals 6-2 in their series opener at Miller Park. 

The Brewers lead in the National League Central Division over the Cardinals has grown to a season high 3 1/2 games. 

Nyjer Morgan capped off the Brewers 5-run outburst with a 3-run double, giving Milwaukee it’s 7th straight win.  The Brewers improved to 5-2 against the Cardinals this season.

Zach Greinke surrendered a 2-run home run to Matt Holliday in the first inning.  He then settled down to work six innings for his 9th (9-4) win of the season. 

The Brewers continue to win home games at an amazing rate.  They improved to 40-14 at Miller Park

Game 2

Another good pitching matchup is on tap tonight.  The Brewers send Shaun Marcum (10-3  3.33ERA) to the mound against Cardinals left hander Jaime Garcia (10-5  3.14ERA).  The Brewers are just 11-13 against left-handed starters this season.
