Doug Melvin After losing Rickie Weeks for the season, the Milwaukee Brewers plan to fill the void at second base from within.

Brewers general manager Doug Melvin told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that he didn't plan to shop for a new second baseman.  Melvin said the Brewers would go with internal options for awhile to see how it goes.  That means that Craig Counsell will see most of the playing time at second base with a few starts against lefties going to Casey McGehee.  McGehee played in last night's 4-2 win over Houston.  He went 0 for 2 with a walk and a sacrifice fly.

The Brewers also called up minor league second baseman Hernan Iribarren from Triple "A" Nashville to give them some added depth.

The Brewers got six strong innings from Dave Bush and another solid bullpen session to pick up a 4-2 win over the Astros.  Trevor Hoffman nailed down his 10th save.  Game 2 of the series is tonight.
