Milwaukee Brewers reliever David Riske had "Tommy John" reconstructive elbow surgery on Tuesday, ending his season.
Specialist Lewis Yocum didn't know how extensive the damage would be until he could perform exploratory surgery. As it turned out, the ligament was torn, which necessitated the Tommy John procedure.
Riske is in the second year of a three-year, $13 million contract. He'll miss all of this year and some, if not all of next season. Riske appeared in one game for the Brewers before going on the disabled list.
